Imaginary World

Finally, they were alone. Away from the world that always surrounded and harassed them. He looked over at her, oh how the moonlight gently hit her cheek and accented her eyes. She glanced over and caught his stare, "What?" she asked with a giggle on her lips. He stared at her for a moment more, then replied. "I don't want to do this anymore." Her somewhat glowing mood seemed to dim down a bit, "What do you mean?" she asked. He turned his head toward his window, put his hands on the wheel and let it out. "I need to be with you, I can't go on pretending like you're not my everything. Is it impossible for us to be together? I have waited for so long, and hoped and nothing has changed. Do you not feel it too? God damn it, ____, I love you." She looked out the windshield, jaw dropped, not knowing how to respond. Finally, she answered him. "___, I would be lying if I said I never thought about it. But that doesn't change the circumstances. I can't be with you. I have to go." She got out of the car, slammed the door shut, and began to walk into the black abyss that the moon never saw. He rested his head on the steering wheel, mind racing, thinking of how to approach this. He turned the key in the ignition, threw the car in reverse, and began to drive. He caught up to her and wondered how she wandered so far in so little time. He saw that her face was streaming with tears, makeup running, out of breath. He rolled down his window and she stopped walking, trying to catch her breath. They kept each others glance for a while. He got out of the car, still keeping her eye contact, grabbed the back of her neck and kissed her. She melted in his arms, never wanting to let go. When they finally let go of each others grip, she looked at him and said,

"I've loved you forever, and have been too scared to let you, I, or anyone else know."

He locked his lips with hers yet again and they engaged in a long, passionate kiss.

The next morning, he awoke, with a big smile on his face. Within seconds the smile faded into a look of deep depression and illusion. He realized that what he had encountered was nothing but a mere dream.
